The pride of Portage La Prairie, Man. and JUNO winning country-rock trio, Doc Walker, open the region’s newest recreational venue, PCU Centre, on April 3, 2010 at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets go on-sale on Monday, February 1 at 10:00 a.m., with ticket prices starting at $37.50 and limited rush-seating available.

“Without the support from our hometown of Portage La Prairie, we would not have the opportunity to share our music with our fans across Canada and abroad,” said Chris Thorsteinson, Doc Walker. “We are honoured to come home and play for our community and for the fans that have supported us for over 10 years.”

For the first time in over two years, fresh from their international Australian tour, Doc Walker head home to Portage La Prairie, Man. for “Doc Walker – Coming Home.” The concert features the award-winning band with special appearances from Canadian country music artists Shane Yellowbird and Deric Ruttan. For a unique fan experience, Yellowbird and Ruttan will join Doc Walker on-stage to perform a selection of Doc Walker’s biggest hits. Tickets can be purchased at the Glesby Centre box office (11-2nd Street, N.E., Portage la Prairie), by phone (204-239-4848), and online at http://www.glesbycentre.ca/.

Following the ribbon cutting ceremony on February 27, 2010, the PCU Centre will host a series of grand opening celebrations. “Doc Walker – Coming Home” is the PCU Centre’s inaugural concert event. The PCU Centre is located at 245 Royal Road South, Portage la Prairie, Man.. The facility will be the heart of Portage La Prairie, providing the community with a state of the art recreational centre. The PCU Centre boasts an arena, atrium, wellness centre and aquatics centre. The grand opening celebrations are in partnership with Portage Regional Recreation Authority Inc.
